Two Key Ways To Protect Your Xero Data

February 16, 2016

In our daily lives we need to remember hundreds of logins and passwords. Passwords for internet banking, facebook and other social media, business applications, personal applications, smartphone apps, the list goes on and on.

Protecting your logins to ensure that you do not lose your online data is of the utmost importance, and it is for this reason that Xero has implemented two-step authentication.

Two-step authentication works to protect your traditional “login and password” by requiring you to not only remember your login and password, but also to authenticate you using a special code sent by Xero to an app on your phone. This type of authentication makes it very tough for anyone to hack your login by adding a further layer of security.

To activate this two-step authentication, visit the Xero blog here to find the instructions to enable it.

Another way to protect your online data is to use a Password Manager app, such as Dashlane, to manage your passwords. Dashlane will not only manage your saved passwords and automatically log you into your websites, but will also allow you to generate strong passwords for website logins in an effort to further protect your data. No more using the same password (or variations of) for every single website!

Tackling online security is important. Be proactive and protect yourself and your data.
