The new wave of business advisors

April 5, 2014

It has been interesting to note over the last several years what a difference the emergence of new technologies have made to the ways that we conduct business.  20 years ago business was dominated by the clacking of dot matrix printers and office spaces were full of filing cabinets stuffed with paper.  For most businesses those days are long gone.

Over the past four years we have seen the emergence of systems that allow us to interact with our clients on a real time basis through an integrated suite of business management solutions.  We have been fortunate enough to be at the pointy end of this technological change and that many of our clients have come on this journey with us.  The results so far have been amazing.

The change in the way we do business has had a huge impact on the people we work with in that they:

  • Experienced a huge gain in efficiency in business administration systems.  This has frequently resulted in a reduction in administration costs such as wages and an improved quality of life.
  • Are  receiving more up-to-date information thereby enabling them to make better decisions.
  • Have seen a decrease in traditional ‘compliance’ fees
  • Are receiving more proactive advice and feedback from their advisors due to the sharing of real-time information

Unfortunately the reality is that many advisors are not doing the right thing by their clients by not sharing with them these new opportunities and instead trapping them in the old way of doing things because they realise that their own business model is now at risk.  Advisors that work in the old way love the fact that their clients have poor systems and less than perfect records because it means more work for them.  The more work required to fix clients records, the more chargeable hours which equates to a bigger fee.  Why would they tell you that there is another way?

These emerging technological solutions are assisting businesses in every aspect including:

  • Business administration, planning and management
  • Client relationship management
  • Marketing
  • Inventory management and point of sale systems
  • Primary production management
  • Workflow and job management and planning
  • Human resources management

These are just a few of the areas in which new integrated systems can assist you to run a better business and all of them at a low relative cost.

We feel fortunate that our business has been involved with and embraced the emergence of these solutions from a very early date and we are extremely pleased at the positive impact we have been able to make on the lives of our clients accordingly.
